Neighborhood

The Robert Price house is located on Gale street on the north east area of historic Edenton, walking distance to all that historic Edenton has to offer.

Guest Access

You'll have full access to the main house, cottage, front and back yards during your stay. The entire property will be your home away from home. The back yard is fully fenced, great for dog-friendly travel! The only camera on site is the Ring doorbell next to the front door and is only reviewed in case of an issue.

Good to know

The main house is a classic side hall layout with living (with smart TV), library/game room with record player and a vinyl collection, kitchen, dining room, and half bath on the first floor. Two bedrooms and a full bathroom are on the second floor. The spacious outdoor deck with seating area, gas-fired chimenea, and outdoor dining, connects what we affectionately call the "cottage" to the main house. The cottage is a cool space with an additional two double beds, comfy seating area, smart TV, and full bathroom. The cottage has its own heating and cooling system. The two spaces together make for a great extended family stay where some separation is appreciated some of the time. The cottage is also a great place for people with mobility limitations to stay with only one step up onto the deck to the cottage door. I employ a professional cleaner and I share the cost of the cleaning with you to provide them a living wage and provide you a thorough cleaning between guests. If you are bringing a dog or two, please remember to include them when you're filling in your guest details at the time of booking.

The house has been returned to the look and feel Robert Price created when he built it. The gingerbread roof and hip-roof porch once again face the road. When workers took the modern siding off the building, they found the original wooden siding — damaged, but largely intact. During renovations, workers found family portraits behind the mantle in the living room. That and a bottle of whiskey imported from Canada with an Old Crow label on it—almost certainly bootleg whiskey from Prohibition. Price, according to the 2007 National Register of Historic Places report, was the son of “a free black carpenter named Joseph Price (who) purchased a lot where his son, Robert Price, also a carpenter, would build himself a residence, ca. 1886.” Price was one of 17 Black carpenters listed in the 1880 census in Edenton. I am thrilled to keep the history of this home alive and welcome visitors to Edenton to tour the historical town, shop it's many local retail stores, and enjoy good food with good people. Your support enables us to continually maintain the historic details of the home. Welcome!

We enjoyed our stay for Thanksgiving. The house was comfortable, quiet, and very close to our friend’s house and town. Everything was walkable, including to the water, shops, restaurants and playground! The house was very clean!

What a dream host and dream house! Nicole was so responsive and just wonderful to communicate with. Her home is beautiful and had everything we needed during our stay. Location is perfect and the yard was just what our two pups needed. Thank you Nicole! We will be back!
